PORTLAND, Oregon — Police in Portland say a 44-year-old man arrested after a bank robbery has been booked into jail on a parole violation.

Sgt. Pete Simpson says a Wells Fargo Bank branch in southeast Portland was robbed Monday morning. After handing a note to a teller, a man ran from the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The police spokesman says witnesses provide a description of the robber and police searching the neighborhood made an arrest. Simpson says officers recovered evidence linking the man to the robbery.
