LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — Former Federal Emergency Management Agency Director James Lee Witt and Arkansas House Republican Majority Leader Bruce Westerman have made their bids for a south Arkansas congressional seat official.
Witt and Westerman filed paperwork Monday to run for the 4th Congressional District seat. Witt is the only announced Democratic candidate while Westerman is seeking the GOP nomination.
Hot Springs businessman Tommy Moll has said he will also seek the GOP nomination.
Incumbent Republican Rep. Tom Cotton is running for the GOP nomination to the U.S. Senate seat held Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor.
Witt says he believes he can return the House seat to the Democrats and said former President Bill Clinton will headline a fundraiser for him in April.
Westerman says his legislative experience sets him apart from other contenders.
