LONG BEACH, California — Mike Caffey scored 13 points and Dan Jennings had 10 points and 13 rebounds as Long Beach State closed its regular season with a 74-67 victory over UC Riverside on Saturday.
Long Beach State led 34-22 at halftime and by as many as 19 in the second half as the 49ers snapped a two-game skid.
Tyler Lamb added 11 points for Long Beach State (14-16, 10-6 Big West), which shot 50.9 percent from the field. Caffey hit 6 of 9 from the field while Jennings made 5 of 9 and Lamb went 4 of 7. Caffey also had four steals.
Steven Thornton led UC Riverside (10-20, 5-11) with 17 points, Austin Quick scored 16 and Sam Finley added 14 points, but the Highlanders shot just 39.7 percent from the field.
