RIVERSIDE, California — A judge has thrown out a rape case against a Riverside County pastor.

The case against Jerome Anthony Clay was dismissed Friday after prosecutors said they didn't have enough evidence to convict him.

Clay, 41, had been free on bail after being arrested at his Perris home in March.

His lawyer told the Press Enterprise (http://bit.ly/1xO0ID8) he found evidence that the allegations were false.

Clay, the former pastor at Compassion Church, told NBC4 (http://bit.ly/1546fcR) that he was shocked by the decision to throw out the case, but that it was an example that the judicial system works.

He says his faith remains strong, but he wants to regain the community's trust.
