Housekeeper pleads guilty to killing Denver couple who hired him to work for them

DENVER — A former homeless man hired to be a housekeeper for two Denver men has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for beating them to death.

Fifty-eight-year-old Daryl L. Rasmussen was sentenced Friday immediately after pleading guilty to two counts of second-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Rasmussen killed 63-year-old Ronald Ford and 56-year-old Ramiro Sanchez in their home in 2011. They say Rasmussen also stole the couple's car and used their credit cards and identities after their deaths.

Rasmussen was hired to be a housekeeper and as well as a caregiver to Sanchez, who was disabled, in 2010.

Earlier this year, Rasmussen was extradited from Texas, where he was being held on a parole violation. He will serve the Colorado sentence at the same time he serves one for the parole violation.
