Man hit, dragged by 18-wheeler in parking lot of assisted living center in Grand Junction dies


GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado — Police say a man who was hit and dragged by an 18-wheeler in the parking lot of an assisted living center in Grand Junction has died.

The Daily Sentinel reports ( ) 60-year-old Kevin Merwick, of Grand Junction, was hit outside of The Atrium of the Grand Valley facility Tuesday morning. His death has been ruled an accident.

A few hours after Merwick was hit, investigators caught up with the driver of a food service truck believed to have been involved in the accident. Investigators say the driver told them he was unaware that someone was stuck beneath his truck.

Police have not issued any citations.
