HOUMA, Louisiana — Houma police are investigating several cases of counterfeit money being used at local businesses, the latest of which occurred Tuesday at a hardware store.
Employees at Davidson's Hardware said this was the second time a customer has tried using fake money at their store in the past several weeks.
General Manager Cory Hatton tells The Courier (http://bit.ly/1fVhLdZ ) the store has become more vigilant about recognizing fake bills.
When an unidentified man tried to pay for goods at the store Tuesday afternoon with counterfeit $10 and $20 bills, Hatton says employees were ready.
So far only one arrest has been made in the eight cases being investigated by the department.
