Bernalillo County sheriff's deputy fatally wounds driver during Albuquerque-area traffic stop

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department says one of its deputies shot and fatally wounded a motorist during a struggle after the deputy made a traffic stop.

The department says the man killed had a gun that was recovered after the Tuesday evening incident.

The man's identity and further details were not released.

A multi-agency team is investigating the shooting.
