PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — The Providence school system is seeking nominees for teacher of the year.
Officials are asking students and families, staff and community members to submit names by March 10.
The district says nominees should be able to inspire students, be masterful at instructional delivery, be active in the community and speak articulately on state and national education issues. They must have at least five years of teaching experience.
Those wishing to nominate someone should write to the selection committee describing how the nominee meets those criteria, and why he or she stands out. Nominees will be asked to provide the committee with their resume and credentials, letters of recommendation and answers to a series of essay questions.
The winner will represent Providence in the statewide teacher of the year competition.
