Staff Reports

Police have arrested a Columbus man on felony charges of aggravated battery and rape.

Gregory S. Taskey, 31, 2225 Union St., was arrested at 5:40 a.m. Sunday by Columbus police, after a woman accused him of assaulting her at his residence Sunday morning, Sgt. Matt Harris, Columbus police spokesman, said.

Police were called to the 2100 block of Home Avenue by a homeowner who said he saw a woman outside his home who was bleeding.

When officers arrived, she told them she had been punched several times in the face, Harris said.

The woman was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital and then transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis due to the extent of her injuries, Harris said.

Taskey was located at his residence and arrested without incident, Harris said.

Taskey is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail, according to jail officials.
