Mabel Gertrude Ross, 98, of Commiskey, Indiana, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2014, at The Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison, Indiana.

Mrs. Ross was born November 12, 1916, in Jennings County, Indiana, the daughter of Charles Vinson and Hazel Josephine Fall. She married John W. Ross Sr. September 16, 1933, in Elrod, Indiana. He preceded her in death March 20, 1972.

Mrs. Ross was a lifelong farmer and an Avon representative for 40-plus years. She attended San Jacinto Schools. She was a member of Graham Presbyterian Church, Jennings County Extension Homemakers for over 50 years, Vernon Clionion Club, had been a District 10 Farm Bureau Women’s Leader and was a 50-year member of Farm Bureau. She was a former member of Jennings County Choral Group and enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, sewing, upholstering and cake decorating.

Survivors include her son, Don (Clara) Ross of Commiskey, Indiana; her sister, Jeanette Koldyke of Indianapolis, Indiana; five grandchildren, Lee Ann Hare of Milton, Wisconsin, John Richard Ross of Arkansas, Robert Ross of Columbus, Indiana, Pamela (Steven) Sinsel of Hanover, Indiana, and Monica (David) Reider of Cleveland, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Phillip Forkert of Commiskey, Indiana, Brittany and Summer Ross, both of Columbus, Indiana, and B.J. Hare of Milton, Wisconsin; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Mary Sinsel of Hanover, Indiana, and Cianna Reider of Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John W. Ross Sr.; two sons, John Ross Jr. and Dorance Lee Ross; and a daughter, Anna Marie Ross.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon, Indiana. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, February 20, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Graham Presbyterian Church or Graham Baptist Cemetery.
