Richard Allen Hyer, 68, of Washington Street, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at his home.

Mr. Hyer was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He retired from the heating and air conditioning industry and he was a Sheet Metal Journeyman.

He was a longtime member of Columbus Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Steve Russell officiating.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sandy Hook United Methodist Church.

Born in Bloomington April 8, 1946, Mr. Hyer was the son of John E. and Lucille Margaret Hitchcox Hyer.

Survivors include his sons, Jason (Jennifer) Hyer, Jarrett Hyer and Jacob Hyer, all of Columbus; his former wife, Robbie Hyer of Columbus; grandchildren, Isabel, Emma, and Caleb Hyer of Columbus; siblings, John (Jean) Hyer of North Carolina, Judy Ahrens of Georgia and Tom (Mary Liz) Hyer of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hyer was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; an infant daughter; and infant male triplets.
