Brian’s picks

1) If Chadd Dietz is only half as wacky as his promo shots suggests on his wackychad.com website, then local youngsters are in for a time even crazier than his high-flying, flipping stunts on his pogo stick, tiny trike and goodness-knows-what-else at a free show at 6 p.m. Friday at The Commons, 300 Washington St. in Columbus. It’s all part of the monthly Old National Bank’s First Fridays for Families, organized by the Columbus Area Arts Council. Information: 812-376-2539 or artsincolumbus.org.

2) Columbus’ Polly Verbanic has been sharing stories with area youngsters for almost as long as their parents have been around. I like to think she’s sparking imaginations as much as anything. You can catch her story time at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Viewpoint Books, 548 Washington St. in Columbus. Information: 812-376-0778 or viewpointbooks.com.
