The Columbus East High School Wall of Fame started last year with the purpose of honoring notable achievements of alumni. Doing so honors their legacy, but it also inspires current students to dream because they can see examples of former students succeeding.
The latest class to be inducted — Jennifer Rumsey, Richard Fields, and Frank and Carol Anderson — certainly provide solid examples for current and future Olympians.
Rumsey, a 1992 East graduate, has had a distinguished career at Cummins Inc. since joining the company in 2000 and is one of its rising executives. She is vice president of engineering in the Engine Business.
Rumsey’s ascension serves as a good role model for girls, showing them that it is possible to succeed at a company in a field where most employees are male.

Fields, a 1974 graduate, is founder and CEO of Juridica Capital Management Limited, which provides corporations and law firms with economic support for complex lawsuits in business-to-business disputes.
Prior to that, he was a partner at several major law firms in Washington and recovered billions of dollars for Fortune 500 clients.
Frank Anderson and his late wife Carol did not attend East but their children did. Both are great examples of volunteerism in action.
They started helping at the high school in 1988 by attending and recording video during football games. They also recorded video for the girls basketball, track and softball teams, and were members of the Columbus East Quarterback Club. Also of note, Frank has served as a senior project mentor and judge.
This year’s Wall of Fame additions are good ones and their honors are well-deserved.
