May overcame a case of the flu to score a 37.7 to win the all-around championship and lead the Bull Dogs to the Columbus East Regional title. She also won the beam with a 9.2 and finished third on the bars (9.525), fourth on the floor (9.55) and eighth on the vault (9.425).

“I think I did really well, considering the circumstances. It was not my best meet, but it was a good meet.”
Do you do anything special to prepare?
“All of the girls and I go to Panera before a meet to get a bagel. That’s kind of a tradition.”

“Don’t let anything bring you down, because in gymnastics, you’re always going to have mistakes and mess-ups. You’re never going to have a perfect meet, so just keep on working at it.”
