Robert Lee “Bob” Blaker, 84, of Columbus, passed away March 17, 2015, in hospice care at Brown County Health & Living. He was born December 13, 1930, in Hutsonville, Illinois, to Allen and Sarah Blaker.

Bob was the youngest of five children, all of whom predeceased him.

Bob is survived by his children, Gordon (wife Karen) of Lawton, Oklahoma, Terry (Stephaney) of Noblesville, Tawnya Thomas (Larry) of Nashville, and David (Kim) of Holland, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Chris and Katie Blaker, Andrew and Connor Blaker, Corey (Carl) Hinton and Natalia and Ken Blaker; and three great-grand children.

Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and was stationed with the 43rd Infantry Division in Augsburg, Germany. He worked in the commercial insulation industry before retiring in the 1980s. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts, camping along with his sons. He was a founding member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church in Carmel.

Bob lived for years in Indiana, then spent several years in Florida before returning to Columbus in 2007 to be closer to family, including daughter Tawnya, who provided care for him for many years.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Greentree Assisted Living in Columbus, where Bob enjoyed living for several years.

There will be no visitation or services at the current time, but a private family and military honor service will take place later at Marion Veterans Cemetery.
