Viola “Boots” Burton, 79, of Elizabethtown, died at 9:23 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at her home.

Born in Johnson County, Indiana, August 26, 1935, she was the daughter of Clarence and Roxanna Smith Crosby. She married Jimmy R. “Jim” Burton November 18, 1962, in Brownstown. He preceded her in death September 20, 2011.

She was a former employee of Job Corps and Quinco, working in the food service departments. Boots loved crafts, especially painting wood cut-outs, was an avid computer gamer and an outstanding cook.

She is survived by children, Jackie Hamner of Elizabethtown, Jim Burton Jr. of Scipio, Kevin Burton of North Vernon, Don Burton of Elizabethtown, Doug (Robin) Hamner of Scipio and Christina (Chris) Fitch of Edinburgh; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Candy Hauk; three sisters; and one brother.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with the Rev. Lewis Burton officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from noon until service time Saturday. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
