SCIPIO — A Commiskey man suffered multiple injuries in northwest Jennings County during a head-on collision involving a car and a semitrailer truck.

The accident occurred about 9 a.m. Monday on State Road 7.

Mark May, 44 was first taken to St. Vincent-Jennings Hospital in North Vernon before being transferred to an Indianapolis hospital, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police.

While a condition report was not available Tuesday, investigators described May’s injuries as non-life-threatening.

May was driving his 2006 Pontiac G6 northbound when, for unknown reasons, his car crossed the center line near the Green Acres subdivision, the release said. It collided with a 1999 Freightliner driven by Aaron Bebout, 40, of Hanover, who was not hurt, according to the release.

Both vehicles veered off the highway, and May’s vehicle overturned near Jennings County Road 700W, the release stated.

Both lanes of traffic were slowed to a crawl until the extensive wreckage was cleaned up, police said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, the release stated.

State troopers were assisted at the scene in Geneva Township by deputies from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department, the county’s EMS service and crews from two towing companies.
