DNR sets tree stand dates, guidelines

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has set up the date range to install and leave portable tree stands and ground blinds on state and federal lands.

The dates are noon Sept. 15 through Jan. 10 next year.

Another change is that hunters may now mark their stands and blinds with DNR-issued customer identification number or their name and address.

All blinds and stands must be removed by Jan. 11.

Tree and ground blinds may not be permanent, according to the DNR. Fasteners or pole climbers may not enter the tree more than a half-inch.
