• Margaret Korb Reifenberg, 84, passed away unexpectedly at 12:20 p.m. on August 24, 2015, at Columbus Regional Hospital after a short illness.

• The daughter of Gilbert A. and Ella A. (Doerter) Korb, Marg was born May 24, 1931, in Evansville, Indiana. A 1949 graduate of Evansville’s Bosse High School, she attended Indiana State Teacher’s College in Terre Haute.

• While in Terre Haute, she met her college sweetheart, Thomas P. Reifenberg and they were married at St. Benedict’s in Evansville on August 30, 1952. Upon his graduation from Rose Polytechnic in 1953, Tom and Marg moved to Bedford, Indiana, where their three children were born and in 1964 the family relocated to Columbus.

• Marg was fiercely dedicated to her family and thoroughly enjoyed caring for, encouraging, and teaching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Backee, Mimi and Grammy. She ensured that everyone felt welcomed and loved. Her strength, unconditional love, generous spirit and selflessness were but a few of her many admirable qualities. Hosting family gatherings, spending time in Nashville, Indiana, and enjoying the warmth of Sarasota, Florida, were some of her favorite pastimes. Her baked strawberry pie, deviled eggs and chili were out of this world. She appreciated good manners, accurate grammar and keeping up with the latest fashion and decorating trends. Her hobbies included antiquing, decorating, furniture refinishing, bridge club and discussing politics. She taught nursery school at First Presbyterian Church and spent many years volunteering in a variety of positions at Columbus Regional Hospital, St. Columba Grade School, and Columbus North High School.

• Marg is survived by Tom, her loving husband of 62 years; her brother, Richard D. Korb of Sarasota, Florida; her sisters-in-law Jean Reifenberg of Fort Wayne and Mary Lee Korb of Evansville; her sons James K. Reifenberg, of Columbus and Robert E. Reifenberg of Ogden, Utah; daughter, Julia R. (Lars) Halvorsen, of Abingdon, Virginia; grandchildren, Laura (Brian) Davis, Daniel Reifenberg, Sarah (Wes) Knuth, Megan Reifenberg, Tom Reifenberg, and Allison Rutan; great-grandchildren, Adler Davis, Rowan Davis and Ezra Knuth; nine nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

• She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gilbert A. Korb Jr.; and a brother-in-law, James G. Reifenberg.

• In accordance with Marg’s wishes, following her cremation inurnment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum. A private family gathering will take place to celebrate her life.

• Arrangements are entrusted to Hathaway-Myers Chapel.

• The family requests that in lieu of flowers any donations be made in her memory to Columbus Regional Hospital Volunteer Services or to First Presbyterian Preschool.
