Peggy J. Murphy, 84, of North Vernon, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at her residence.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon, with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.
Born March 6, 1931, Peggy was the daughter of the late Elmo and Cecilia (Smith) Herr. She married Joe Murphy in 1950, and he preceded her in death.
Peggy was a co-owner of and bookkeeper for Murphy Electric. She also had worked at Cummins Inc. and Butlerville School. She was a member of First Baptist Church and she enjoyed reading and cats.
Survivors include a son, Mike (Bee) Murphy of Butlerville; a daughter, Mickey Bland of North Vernon; daughter-in-law, Libby Murphy of North Vernon; eight grandchildren, Justin, Matt and Jake Bland, Sara, Rob, Donnie and Alex Murphy, and Meaghan Speer; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and son, Pat Murphy.
