New police officer hired

The Columbus Police Department has hired Adam Behmlander as its newest police officer.

Behmlander, 26, graduated from Trinity Lutheran High School in Seymour. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

He previously worked as a correctional officer for 4½ years with the Indiana Department of Correction, attaining the rank of sergeant.

After a short orientation period at Columbus Police Department, Behmlander will attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy later this month.

Behmlander and his, wife, Erica, have one child.
