Zach Gearhart, Hauser senior basketball player

Gearhart led the Jets with 18 points in a season-opening 82-42 win against Madison Shawe and 19 points in Saturday’s 55-54 upset win at Columbus North.

Imani Guy, Columbus North junior basketball player

Guy scored a career-high 16 points, grabbed five rebounds and held Purdue recruit Ae’Rianna Harris to 10 points Saturday to lead the Bull Dogs to a 46-44 upset against Class 4A then-No. 1 Lawrence North.

Her performance last week:

“I think I played my role really good. I was rebounding well and scoring well in the paint, and I think I did a good job guarding Ae’Rianna Harris. She’s a really good post.”

“I have to be chewing gum, and I have to listen to the same song before every game.”
