William W. Oren, 90, formerly of Kokomo, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Four Seasons Health Care Center in Columbus, Indiana.

A celebration of his life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. December 29 at the home of Dan and Kathy Oren, 2880 West Carr Hill Road, Columbus, Indiana.

Born in Evart, Michigan, March 14, 1925, Mr. Oren was the son of Robert and Anna Conway Oren. He married Helen Louise Ford January 12, 1952.

Mr. Oren was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team. He worked in engineering at General Motors (Delco Electronics) for 35 years and after retirement as an adjunct professor at Indiana University-Kokomo. Mr. Oren was a longtime volunteer for Literacy Coalition and Meals on Wheels in Kokomo and an avid outdoorsman, with an over 40-year family tradition in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan backwoods.

Survivors include sons, Tim (Pat) Oren of Eagle, Idaho, Dan (Kathy) Oren of Columbus, Tom (Jane) Oren of Williamsburg, Virginia, Will (Anne) Oren of Charles City, Virginia, and Jim (Dawn) Oren of Holland, Michigan; grandchildren, Ben, Peter, Connor, Hannah, Abby, Jenny, Emily and Molly Oren and Sarah (RJ) Flowers; and a brother, Ventry Conway.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; a sister, Jane Wend; and brothers, Horace and Robert Jr.
