JoAnne Lorraine Davis, 85, of Columbus, passed from this life at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at her home.

Mrs. Davis was born, March 20, 1930, in Hammond, Indiana, to F. Derril and Lorraine Irvin Reed.

She was a 1948 graduate of Hammond High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Ball State University in 1952.

Early in her education career, she founded the kindergarten program at Sprunica Elementary School in Brown County and later taught school for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation. She retired as a library assistant at IUPUC.

Mrs. Davis was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was an avid tennis player and loved animals and going to the beach.

Survivors include her daughters, Jan Shultz of Columbus and Julie (Burch) Kinsolving of Shelbyville, Kentucky; and grandsons, Jacob Shultz of Columbus and Eric (Missy) Kinsolving of Souderton, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Elaine Little.

In keeping with Mrs. Davis’ wishes, cremation is planned.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
