GODfit author signing books today

Columbus’ John Hayden still remembers when his pastor, the Rev. Dan Houze, spoke at a Sunday service about the importance of believers using whatever platform God provides for heavenly good.

“At that moment, a seed was planted on my heart,” Hayden said. “What grew out of that seed is the constant pursuit of God through spiritual disciplines, healthy choices and physical fitness.”

What grew out of that was a program called GODFIT that has spread to a number of area churches. It’s also Hayden’s book, “GODFIT: Through Love Serve,” which will be the focus of a signing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at The Ark in the Eastbrook Plaza Shopping Center at the corner of 25th Street and National Road in Columbus.

The program and the book aim to help people mix spiritual and physical disciplines to get in shape to better serve others.

“It means you recognize that your spiritual and physical wellness is essential for your ability to be a disciple,” Hayden writes in the preface. “It means you appreciate the value of God’s temple and the opportunities before you to serve.”
