DivorceCare for Kids set Feb. 9 locally

If you’re going through a divorce, you can help your kids with the pain.

And leaders of the Christian-oriented DivorceCare for Kids say that the best way to help your children is to help yourself. DivorceCare for Kids, also known simply as DC4K, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at Community Church of Columbus, 3850 N. Marr Road.

Healing is a long, sometimes painful process, group leaders said at dc4k.org. They also said your children need you throughout the entire process. One of their biggest suggestions is to build a support team — and that’s where the group comes in.

“You’ll find caring people who understand the issues you face,” the website reads.

DC4K is a nationally recognized program that is designed for children in grades 2 to 6 whose parents are separated or divorced.

One youngster said he learned a big lesson through the group: “At DC4K, I learned it’s never the kid’s fault when parents get divorced.”

There is no fee.
