Nelma Land, 68, of Edinburgh, Indiana, passed away January 30, 2016, at her residence. She was born December 9, 1947, in Edinburgh, the daughter of Ray and Mary Bell Burton.

She is survived by a son, Scott Land of Nashville, Indiana; two daughters, Shannon Burton of Edinburgh and Shawn (Nathaniel) Davidson of Edinburgh; a brother, Wayman (Judy) Burton of Edinburgh; sisters, Irma Pendleton of Edinburgh, Elzana Reed of Edinburgh, Donna (Robert) Moore of Edinburgh and Teresa (Roland) VanWhy of Edinburgh; and grandchildren, Peyton Jones, Paige Burton, Emma Davidson, Madelynn Land, Ava Davidson, Owen Davidson and Olivia Davidson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Hyman Burton, Herman Earl Burton and Howard Burton; a sister, Della Rhodes; and a granddaughter, Natasha Land-Burton.

She was a member of Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church. She retired in 2008 from Mitsubishi.

She was a beloved local musician for many years leading her own group, “Dee Dee Land and the Southwind Band.” She was an IU basketball fan and was proud to be an Edinburgh resident.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church by the Revs. Guy Hardin and Lewis Burton. Calling will be at the church from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
