Michael Louis Sullivan, 71, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:14 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.

Born April 18, 1944, in Dupont, Mr. Sullivan was the son of Howard Sullivan and Nola May Baker Sullivan Andress. He married Wanda McIntosh Dec. 14, 1963, at Coffee Creek Christian Church in Paris Crossing, she survives.

Mr. Sullivan was a 1963 graduate of Deputy High School. He owned Sullivan’s Locksmith for over 30 years and had previously worked as custodian for Dupont State Bank and in maintenance at Cummins Engine Company, where he retired in 2001 after 38 years. Mr. Sullivan was a member of Coffee Creek Christian Church, where he was a deacon for over 25 years, Heartland Classic Cruiser Car Club and was a former member of both the Masonic Lodge in Deputy and the Vernon Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed traveling, classic cars, music, movies and being outdoors. He especially loved cutting firewood.

Surviving with his wife of 52 years, Wanda, are one son, Bill (Paula) Sullivan of Scipio; two daughters, Rebecca (Ivory John) Sandefur and Teresa (Josh) Taylor both of North Vernon; step-mother, Lois C. Sullivan of Seymour; brother, Glen (Gertrude) Sullivan of Deputy; sisters, Loraine and Loretta Andress both of Anchorage, Alaska, and Merry Dye of Bradenton, Florida; grandchildren, Shea Lilian Taylor, Frank and Kaydee Sandefur all of North Vernon, Chasetan Thompson and Bradley Sullivan both of Scipio and Michael (Cheyenne) Sullivan of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Colin Sharp-Davidson of North Vernon and Elliot Jolee Sullivan of Columbus.

Mr. Sullivan was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Kenneth D. Andress; and granddaughter, Tara Kaye Sharp.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Will Smith and the Rev. Jim Soblotne officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday. Burial will be in the Coffee Creek Christian Church Cemetery in Paris Crossing.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Coffee Creek Christian Church or to the Coffee Creek Christian Church Cemetery Association.
