Area churches joining together for week-long outreach

Up to 15 area Christian church pastors are agreeing to join ministry resources for a week-long outreach of worship, evangelism, Bible distribution and related efforts later this year.

Organizers ideally would like to see 30 or more churches on board, said the Rev. Mark Oliver of Freedom Chapel of Columbus.

To plan such a event, a meeting will be conducted from 6 to 8 p.m. April 19 at Sandy Hook United Methodist Church, 1610 Taylor Road in Columbus. Gordon Henke of Revive Indiana will speak and outline how the outreaches are done.

They include believers gathering daily for breakfast, prayer, music and time to filter into the community to find people needing prayer. In northern Indiana last year, some breakfast gatherings attracted nearly 200 people. Evening worship services sometimes attracted 3,500. Some high schoolers were even granted class excuses so they could be a part of the Revive Indiana functions.

Organizers said people planning to attend the upcoming meeting should send an email to the Rev. Tracy McIntyre at Crossroads Community Church near Scipio.
