Gerlinde Maria Rosemunde Farmer, 88, of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown.

Mrs. Farmer was a member of the Kurtz Church of the Nazarene.

Born June 18, 1928, in Erlangen Brück, West Germany, she was the daughter of Wenzl and Eli (Ries) Spachtholz, both of whom preceded her in death. On Nov. 19, 1948, in Erlangen Brück, West Germany, she married Selby C. Bowles and he preceded her in death. On July 2, 1982, she married James D. Farmer and he also preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Gary Lee (Kim) Bowles of Columbus; two daughters, Pamela (Terry) Thompson and Sigrid Keata Stroh (Tony) Deaton of Brownstown; four grandchildren, Julia C. (Jackson) McKim, Joshua M. Jackson, Adrienne R. Bowles and Derek I. Bowles; and nine great-grandchildren, Jacob A. Graham, Emily M. McKim, Joshua E. McKim, Garrett L. McKim, Chlóe C. Jackson, Shelby L. Jackson, Nora S. Jackson, Selby L. Brown and Kyler J. Bowles.

In addition, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Wilfried Andreas Spachtholz; and one sister, Elisabeth Spachtholz.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at Kurtz Church of the Nazarene with Floyd Fisher officiating. Interment will be at Kurtz Cemetery.
