Columbus airport named the state’s ‘Airport of the Year’

Columbus Municipal Airport has been named the 2016 Airport of the year by the Aviation Association of Indiana.

The award includes a $1,000 cash grant to the airport to be donated to a charity of the airport’s choice. Airport Director Brian Payne said the money would be donated to AviationNation, a high school aircraft building program in Columbus.

A reception to celebrate the award is planned at 4 p.m. today at the airport.
