Anna Pearl Hatcher Compton, 89, of Columbus, died at 5:57 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Willow Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on Dec. 10, 1926, in Blythe County, Kentucky, Anna was the daughter of Terry and Emily Moore Odle.
She married Herbert Hatcher on Sept. 26, 1942 in Clay County, Tennessee. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1984.
Anna had worked for Arvin Industries, Como Plastics and RCA in Indianapolis. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Harms Street Church of Christ in North Vernon and enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Surviving Anna are her children, Darrel (Glenna) Hatcher of Columbus, Douglas (Debbie) Hatcher of North Vernon, Dennis Hatcher of Bedford, Mary Lane of Athens, Georgia, Sue (James) Pedigo of Columbus, Diane (Jerry) Grimes of Clay County, Tennessee; thirteen grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mabel Fox and Allie Cherry, both of Columbus.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Fred Odle.
Anna’s funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street, with James Pedigo officiating. Burial will follow in Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
