John Vernon Quilleon, 81, of Tampa, Florida, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017. He was born in Gessie, Indiana, and was always proud of his Columbus, Indiana, roots. In 1978 he moved to Florida and settled in Tampa in 1988. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. John worked as an accountant for over 40 years at Cummins Engine Company. He was a strong supporter and advocate for Best Buddies. John was an avid football fan and enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. His trademark was to always wear his dark sunglasses, his hat and charm the world with his beautiful smile.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Arlene; and his first wife, Diane.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Bobbie; his five children, Teri (Chris) Batchelor, Ken, Curt (Robin), Kendra and David (Debbie); brother, Charles; sister, Mary; and five grandchildren, Molly, Olivia, Blake, Brody and Bryce; along with several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, at St. James United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Military Honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, at Florida National Cemetery.
