NORTH VERNON — North Vernon police arrested two Indianapolis women after receiving a report that a female was pointing a handgun at another woman in the parking lot of a local auto parts store.
Police were called to the store at about 5:25 p.m. Friday and a witness told them the vehicle with the women had left. A short time later, Officers Todd Fleetwood and Scotty Willis found the vehicle in the North Vernon Wal-mart parking lot and located the registered owner, Kore A. Kirk, 20, Indianapolis.
While questioning Kirk, a second female, Kenisha D. Jones, 20, Indianapolis, was found hiding inside the vehicle.
Officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana inside the vehicle, and when searching it found 175 grams of marijuana in separate packaging, a 9 mm handgun that had been reported stolen and a digital scale, officers said. They also seized $590 and about $110 in counterfeit currency.
Kirk was arrested on charges of felony dealing in marijuana, misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, officers said. Jones was arrested on charges of felony intimidation with a deadly weapon, possession of stolen property, pointing a firearm, dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, officers said.
