The Columbus Human Rights Commission is seeking entries for the 2017 J. Irwin Miller Art Contest and the Benjamin M. King Essay Contest.
This year’s theme is “Advocating for Others.” Students are invited to create an original work of art or to compose an essay for the contests.
One winner will be selected in each of three divisions, Grades 5 to 6, Grades 7 to 8 and Grades 9 to 12.
Students are invited to enter the art contest, essay contest or both.
A panel of volunteer judges will select the winning entries. Winners receive a $75 award, an award-winning book and complimentary tickets to the Human Rights Commission annual dinner.
Deadline for entries is 5 p.m. Feb. 28. People interested in volunteering as a judge should contact the commission office by March 3.
