Laurette Jearldine Eickleberry, 94, of Columbus, died at 11:15 a.m. February 13, 2017, at her home.
Laurette was born Sept. 17, 1922, in Columbus, the daughter of Jesse V. and Ethel Morrison Williams. She married James Ernest Eickleberry on Dec. 24, 1941.
She had been employed at various retail stores in Columbus and Arvin Industries. Laurette was a member of Ogilville Church of Christ and the Ohio Township Homemakers.
She had been an active 4-H leader for many years and a foster grandparent with the school corporation. She loved spending time with her family.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin Wright officiating. Calling hours will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday. Inurnment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Ogilville, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or donor’s choice of charity.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Christine) Eickleberry of Brown County; daughters, Carol K. Waggoner and Peggy (Robert D.) Sims, both of Columbus; brothers, Jimmy (Alma) Williams and Don (Carol) Williams, both of Columbus; her sisters, Joyce Ludwig of North Vernon and Gloria (Russell) Allman of Seymour; grandchildren, Eric (Tereasa) Waggoner, ReneƩ (Roger Freeman) Branham, Chad (Debbie) Sims, Kevin (Leslie) Sims and Justin (Myra) Sims; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James on June 13, 1998; an infant son; a brother, Jesse Williams; sisters, Leatt Newkirk, Bee Lewis, Violet Brashears and Neola Lord; son-in-law, David Waggoner; grandson, David Waggoner; and a granddaughter, Amanda Sims.
