SHELBY COUNTY — The Indiana Department of Transportation will close State Road 252 between Interstate 65 and Flat Rock on April 4.
A highway detour will route traffic via I-65, U.S. 31, State Road 46 and State Road 9.
INDOT had planned to begin working in the town of Flat Rock, but that work was pushed back because of utility company delays in relocating services. Instead, workers will begin bridge work at Lewis Creek and the Flat Rock River. Contractor Milestone will hydro-demolish the existing bridge deck overlays and install a new concrete surfaces on each bridge.
Deck, rail and substructure repairs will also be completed. Local residents will have continuous access to their homes via State Road 252 from I-65 west of the closed area, or Flat Rock east to the closing.
