Bridge inspection takes one day instead of two

Bridge inspectors have finished their work on the Interstate 65 bridge over Jonathan Moore Pike, meaning ramps on to the interstate will be open on Friday.

The Indiana Department of Transportation had planned to close the ramps for two days to complete the bridge inspection, but completed the work in one day, said Harry Maginity, spokesman for INDOT’s southeast district office.

An upcoming bridge inspection will be at the Robert Stewart Bridge in downtown Columbus, scheduled to be inspected Monday and Tuesday, with lane restrictions occurring beginning at 9 a.m. each day.

Eastbound State Road 46’s right lane will be closed on Monday for inspection, and the eastbound State Road 46 left lane will close on Tuesday for inspections, Maginity said.

Bad weather could delay the planned work.
