COLUMBUS
Gloria S. Hand, 62, of Columbus, died unexpectedly at 3:14 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 at her residence.
Gloria was born October 31, 1955, in Beatrice, Nebraska, the daughter of Elton and Wilma Heuske Schmidt.
On November 11, 1979 she married James Hand in Brown County.
Gloria was the regional secretary of ABATE Indiana from 1980 until 1987.
She loved animals and woodworking.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, James; brothers, Gerald, Larry and Joe Schmidt, all of Nebraska, sisters, Sandy Smith and Wendy Smith of North Carolina; many nieces and nephews; along with her three cats, Gilmour, Izzi and Itsy.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation is planned and there are no services scheduled at this time.
