Six fire departments called to house fire near Clifford

Clifford Township Volunteer firefighters have returned to the scene of an early morning house fire in the 7700 block of County Road 550N that rekindled this afternoon.

The firefighters, along with the Hope, German Township, Columbus Township, Clay and Hartsville fire departments, were sent to the house at 6 a.m. Tuesday, said Clifford Fire Chief Charlie Moore.

The 2,100-square-foot frame home at 7190 E. County Road 55ON was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, Moore said. No one was living in the home because it did not have heat, according to Moore.

No injuries were reported. The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
