Serious crash near Jackson/Bartholomew line on I-65

The crash scene near mile marker 56 on I-65 northbound has been cleared and traffic is back to normal speeds, Wheeles said.

12:21 p.m. update

I-65 northbound near the 56 mile marker near the Jackson/Bartholomew counties line has reopened following serious personal injury crash, Wheeles said.

Troopers will remain on scene to investigate the crash.

Traffic will remain slow through the area and motorists should use caution, Wheeles said.

11:53 a.m. update

I-65 northbound is shut down at exit 50 at Seymour due to a personal injury crash near the 55.5 mile marker, Wheeles said.

Three medical helicopters are arriving at the scene. There is also a property damage crash on I-65 southbound near the 56 mile marker, Wheeles said.

Motorists are advised to avoid I-65 in Jackson County, Wheeles added.

11:50 a.m. update

I-65 northbound will be shut down near the 55.5 mile marker due to a multiple injury accident. Traffic is being diverted onto State Road 11 coming into Columbus, said Caitlyn Gross, a spokeswoman for the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes of travel, she added.

SEYMOUR, Ind. — A serious personal injury crash has been reported on Interstate 65 southbound near the 55.5 mile marker at the Jackson/Bartholomew County line, Said Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, spokesman for the Indiana State Police’s Versailles District.

A medical helicopter is heading to the scene.

I-65 northbound in the area is expected to be closed, Wheeles said.
