Letter: Want to change elected leaders? Then go vote

From: Thomas Talbert

Columbus

When Republicans passed a $1.5 trillion tax cut that mostly benefited the wealthiest Americans and the biggest, richest corporations, they brought the corrosive effect of money in politics out into the open.

Now, the GOP is proposing deep cuts to critical programs like Medicare and nutrition assistance to pay for this tax scheme, taking from those in need to pay back deep-pocketed donors. It’s never been clearer that corporations and the wealthiest Americans are dictating policy through their political donations.

It’s a broken system, and the soft corruption of dark money in politics is hurting working families.

Please make time to vote in November. And remember to advocate for balanced redistricting during the interim.
