COLUMBUS, Ind. — The body of a Taylorsville kayaker was found at 4 p.m. today by search and rescue teams who have been trying to find him on the Driftwood River for two days.
Keygan Matlock, 26, 3950 Deer Court, Tannehill Park, was found about 100 yards from where his kayak was found earlier Friday, in the S-curves of the Driftwood between the Lowell and Tannehill bridges, said Angela Goldman, Indiana Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman.
Matlock’s body was found by the Bartholomew County water rescue airboat near some logs outside of the river channel in the receding floodwater from the Driftwood, Goldman said.
He had been missing since Wednesday when investigators believe he launched the kayak in the late morning and headed south on the Driftwood. He was last seen by a homeowner along the Driftwood between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Wednesday when she saw him paddling on the river in the strong current.
His family reported him missing Thursday morning when he had not returned home.
