Columbus police arrested a local man on warrants and other charges after officers saw him walking out of a local store. Police saw Eloy Salinas Jr. 22, Columbus, walking out of a store in the 700 block of Whitfield Drive at 9:45 p.m. Friday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
After confirming two Bartholomew County warrants for Salinas’ arrest, he was taken into custody without incident, Harris said. When searching Salinas, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun that he had concealed in his waistband, Harris said.
Officers also recovered a digital scale, methamphetamine and more than $1,700 in currency from Salinas, Harris said. In addition to the warrants, Salinas was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
