INDOT begins repairs on State Road 252

EDINBURGH — The Indiana Department of Transportation has started work on State Road 252 between U.S. 31 and I-65, just north of Bartholomew County.

Workers spent Wednesday saw-cutting areas to be patched under a $317,500 pavement preservation contract, INDOT officials said. Full-depth pavement repairs — including a lengthy one in State Road 252’s eastbound lane just west of Big Blue River — will begin next week. Partial-depth asphalt patching will follow.

Crack sealing operations will begin May 12, INDOT officials said. Flaggers are directing motorists around the moving worksites.

Dave O’Mara of North Vernon is the state’s prime contractor. Subcontractor Reece Seal Coating of Indianapolis is responsible for crack and joint sealing.

All work along this 2½-mile section of State Road 252 in Johnson and Shelby counties should be completed prior to the Memorial Day weekend, INDOT officials said.

The highway’s traffic count at Edinburgh is 5,940 vehicles per day.
