A man sleeping in the driver’s seat of his vehicle still in the roadway was arrested on a drug-related charge.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Kris Weisner was sent to the intersection of County Roads 600E and 850S at 4:33 a.m. Tuesday about a vehicle abandoned in the roadway, deputies said.
Weisner found Gary L. Petro, 35, of Scipio, asleep in the driver’s seat, deputies said. Weisner also located a corner cut baggie containing a white substance on Petro, who said it was methamphetamine.
Petro was arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine and was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $57,500 bond, jail officials said.
