Two juveniles, and one local teen arrested on multiple charges after traffic stop

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested one person and detained two juveniles after a vehicle being driving by a 17-year-old was clocked going 72 mph in a 45 mph zone on north U.S. 31.

Deputy Sgt. Kris Weisner attempted to stop a northbound vehicle at U.S. 31 and Marketplace Drive at 11:12 p.m. Wednesday for the speed infraction, deputies said.

A short pursuit ensued before the vehicle stopped near Driftside Mobile Home Park, deputies said. The driver, a 17-year-old female from Edinburgh, told Weisner she had never obtained a driver’s license.

K9 Bolt alerted to narcotics in the vehicle and deputies found about an ounce of marijuana in the vehicle, deputies said.

When Weisner attempted to place the female juvenile under arrest, a struggle ensued. Passenger Leroy Conrad, 18, of 405 Della Road, and a 14-year-old passenger who was from Edinburgh, began arguing with Edinburgh officer Hector Mercado, who had stopped to assist Weisner. Both individuals had to be restrained, deputies said.
