Cubs topple Olympians

Columbus East did not have one of its better outings and fell to Madison 162-170 on the East Nine at Otter Creek.

Kody Reynolds tied for medalist honors with a 38 to lead the Olympians. Mark Mayhew carded a 40, Adrian Adams added a 44, Avery Foist shot 48, Cole Shaefer had a 51 and Layton Erfmeier finished with a 55.

Jets take second

Hauser finished second and Edinburgh third in a tri match at Clifty Creek. North Decatur won with a 184 to 190 for the Jets and 229 for the Lancers.

Justin Compton led Hauser with a 44. Sam Johnson carded a 46, Matt Sweet added a 49, Ethan Wallace shot 51 and Justin Stafford had a 53.

Edinburgh’s Bladen Hancock won medalist honors with a 43. Zach Burton added a 59, Noah Childers shot 62 and Darius Bennett had a 65.

Trinity tops Brownstown

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran broke the 200 mark in a 199-210 win against Brownstown Central at Shadowood.

Jacob Keith led the Cougars with a 47. Ryland Nierman carded a 49, Noah Criswell added a 51, Mark Shoemaker shot 52 and Josiah Foster had a 58.

Jackets edge Jets

MORRISTOWN — Hauser won both doubles matches, but Morristown swept the singles matches to hand the Jets a 3-2 Mid-Hoosier Conference loss.

Abby Johnson and Sarah Tedder beat Patience Wood and Brooklyn Langkabel 6-1, 7-6 at No. 1 doubles for the Jets (6-3, 2-1). Kylie Lock and Melanie Taylor blanked Gabby Ibarra and Kirsten Payne 6-0, 6-0 at No. d doubles.

Hauser’s Alana Owen fell to Kenzie Logan 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1 singles, Madie Sherman lost to Alayna Munson 6-7, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Maddy Archer fell to Hailey Dunham 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

Floyd nips Panthers

FLOYDS KNOBS — Floyd Central pulled out a pair of three-set matches to claim a 4-1 win against Jennings County in the first-round of the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament.

Abigail DeCamp and Courtney Lykins beat Taylor Litch and Morgan Hamilton 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles for the Panthers (10-5).

Jennings’ Rebecca Driver fell to Jasmine Shireman 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Hailey Brown lost to Peyton Whitehouse 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Ellie Hearne fell to Abby Jamison 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Maddy Hill and Callie Wilder lost to Lindsey Dorsch and Kate Sparrow 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Hornets blank Cougars

HENRYVILLE — Henryville won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win against Trinity Lutheran.

Courtney Barker fell 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Abby Schult lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Lauren Voss fell 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Cougars (5-7). Macey Prewitt, Lauren Fleetwood lost 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, and Cassidy Burnside and Katelyn Mensendiek fell 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Eagles rout Cougars

NASHVILLE — Eli Snider threw a three-hitter to lead Brown County to an 11-1, six-inning win against Greenwood Christian Academy.

John Wayne Ziegler went 3 for 4 with a triple, Justin Partyka went 3 for 5 with a double and Jake Riehl went 3 for 5 with two RBIs for the Eagles (5-13). Isaiah Luenebrink went 2 for 4, and Isaac Weddle had a double and two RBIs.

Cubs down Panthers

MADISON — Jennings County fell to Madison 17-2 in five innings in the opening round of the HHC Tournament.

The Panthers (2-13) will play in the consolation round Wednesday against Bedford North Lawrence, which fell to Columbus East 4-0.

South Decatur falls

KNIGHTSTOWN — Knightstown scored at least three runs in every inning an an 18-6, five-inning triumph against South Decatur.

Adam Baugh went 2 for 2 for the Cougars (4-10). Luke Eden went 2 for 3.

Devils rally past Panthers

JEFFERSONVILLE — Jennings County led 2-1 after 3 1/2 innings, but Jeffersonville scored four in the fourth and five in the fifth on its way to a 10-4 HHC win.

Gabby Mahoney and Tori Lee each went 2 for 3 with a double for the Panthers (9-8, 3-1).
