Columbus police arrested a local man with a driver’s license that had been suspended for life after he was observed driving in downtown Columbus.
Columbus Police Sgt. Josh McCrary saw a truck with an expired license plate near 11th Street and Lafayette Avenue at 11:35 p.m. Thursday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
McCrary stopped the truck and spoke with the driver, Robert A. Hutt, 34, Columbus, and determined Hutt was a habitual traffic violator and his license was suspended for life.
McCrary then determined that Hutt appeared to be concealing something in his hand, Harris said.
McCrary recovered the item and determined it was methamphetamine, Harris said.
Hutt was arrested on preliminary charges of driving as a habitual traffic offender and possession of methamphetamine, jail officials said.
